How To Crochet A Canning Jar Mug (glass mug with handle) Cozy

FREE Pattern:

Make a Magic Ring Loop

Round 1: 8 hdc in magic ring loop circle. Join with sl st to first hdc (8 hdc)

Round 2: ch 1, 2 hdc in each stitch around. Join with sl st to first hdc (16 hdc)

Round 3: ch 1, 2 hdc in same stitch, hdc in the next * 2 hdc in the next stitch, hdc in the next *. Repeat from * to * around. Join with sl st to first hdc (24 hdc)

Round 4: ch 1, 2 hdc in same stitch, hdc in next 2 stitches * 2 hdc in the next stitch, hdc in next 2 stitches* Repeat from * to * around. Join with sl st to first hdc (32 hdc)

Round 5: ch 1, 2 hdc in same stitch hdc in next 3 stitches * 2 hdc in the next stitch, hdc in next 3 stitches* Repeat from * to * around. Join with sl st to first hdc (40 hdc)

Round 6: ch 2, working in back loop only, dc in each stitch around. Join with sl st to first dc (40 dc). This will create a nice rim around the bottom of jar cozy.

Round 7: ch 2, front post dc (fpdc) around first post of dc in row below. Fpdc around each post around. Join with sl st in top of first dc to join (40 fpdc)

Round 8: ch 2, front post dc (fpdc) around first post of dc in row below. Fpdc around each post around. DO NOT JOIN. We will now be creating a slit for the handle to come through. (40 fpdc)

Round 9: ch 2, TURN. Back post dc (bpdc) around first post of dc in row below. Bpdc around each post around. 1 hdc around first ch-2 below, DO NOT JOIN. (40 bpdc, 1 hdc)

Round 10: ch 2, Turn. Front post dc (fpdc) around first post of dc in row below. Fpdc around each post around. Do not join. (40 fpdc)

Round 11: ch 2, turn, back post dc (bpdc) around first post of dc in row below. Bpdc around each post around. 1 hdc around first ch-2 below, do not join. (40 bpdc, 1 hdc)

Round 12: ch 2, turn, front post dc (fpdc) around first post of dc in row below. Fpdc around each post around. Do not join. (40 fpdc)

Round 13: ch 2, turn, back post dc (bpdc) around first post of dc in row below. Bpdc around each post around. 1 hdc around first ch-2 below, do not join. (40 bpdc, 1 hdc)

Round 14: ch 2, turn, front post dc (fpdc) around first post of dc in row below. Fpdc around each post around. Do not join. (40 fpdc)

Round 15: ch 2, turn, back post dc (bpdc) around first post of dc in row below. Bpdc around each post around. 1 hdc around first ch-2 below, do not join. (40 bpdc, 1 hdc)

Round 16: ch 2, turn, front post dc (fpdc) around first post of dc in row below. Fpdc around each post around. Do not join. (40 fpdc)

Round 17: ch 2, turn, back post dc (bpdc) around first post of dc in row below. Bpdc around each post around. 1 hdc around first ch-2 below, do not join. (40 bpdc, 1 hdc)

Round 18: ch 2, turn, front post dc (fpdc) around first post of dc in row below. Fpdc around each post around. SLIP STITCH IN THE TOP OF FIRST DC TO JOIN. (40 fpdc)

Round 19: ch 2, DO NOT TURN, we are reconnecting now to continue working in a full circle again. Front post dc (fpdc) around first post of dc in row below. Fpdc around each post around. Join with sl st in top of first dc to join (40 fpdc)

Round 20: ch 1, do not turn, continue around with 1 hdc front post around each st around, slip st in top of first hdc to join. (40 hdc)

Round 21: ch 1, sc in back 3rd loop only all around, sl st in first sc to join (40 sc). This will make a nice rim around the top of cozy.

Round 22: ch 1, sc in each st around in both loops, sl st join (40 sc).

Round 23: ch 1, sc in each st around in both loops, sl st join (40 sc).

Final Round 24: ch 1, slip stitch in each st around in both loops, sl st join. Fasten off.

Around the Handle Opening: Attach yarn and reverse sc (sc crochet left to right) all around handle opening.

Fasten off and weave in all ends.
